- Power is the chance of correctly rejecting the null hypothesis.
- The opposite of power (1 - beta) is called type-II error.
- Power depends on four factors, which can be influenced by the researcher to increase the power. Namely (1) α, the probability of a type I error, (2) the alternative hypothesis, (3) the sample size and (4) the test used. Make sure you know how these four factors influence the power, and how the researcher can manipulate these factors to increase the power.
